Mini Classic Cooper Sport Page

The classic range launched in 2000 for the UK consisted of 3493 cars. Data from MG Rover confirms 2091 of them were the popular Cooper Sport variant.

A further 704 cars were made in left hand drive format for outside of the UK, this from a total of 1707 left hand drive 'classic range' cars for the European market.

This model is the final evolution of the mini, which had been seen before with the odd special edition with the sports pack flared wheel arches and 13" sports alloys. Unlike earlier cars which were Coopers with an 'optional extra' sports pack upgrade, these Cooper Sports all came as standard with the sports pack (wide arches and 13" alloys) and had a updated interior, which consisted of a stylish nickel-silver and black leather trim, polished alloy door furniture and turned-alloy fascia.

The Classic Cooper Sport was available in Solar Red, Anthracite, British Racing Green and Tahiti Blue colours, all with the same black & nickel-silver leather trim. Colour breakdown from data gathered to date is as follows (this is just over half of all made, so gives a likely realistic overall percentage) :-

If you own one of these special cars, please get in contact with us (see the register page) to register the car - our goal is to track down all the Classic range cars to conclude how many still survive today, and to unite owners of these cars together at displays and mini shows around the country.
